Commentary On “Times to City: Drop Dead”
Oh he's probably very bright. He was president of Harvard Law review and contemporary's describe him as very bright (both his contemporaries and some of mine who know him). probably not as bright as Bill or Hillary but maybe. The issue is so what. I went there I graduated cum laude. I know hundreds if not more others who did also. You need a certain level of intelligence to grasp complex issues and beyond that it seems that other factors are far far more important, such as experience, judgement, Read More...

Opinion On “Job Recruiters Prefer State Universities Over Ivy League Colleges”
reality is that the vast majority of successful top entrepreneurs don't hold a college degree. that's what this country needs, more entrepreneurs with someone supporting their vision. college is a joke unless your kid is inbred trust-baby or highly focused on something productive like med-school or engineering. and if they don't have a focus, get them into trade school to become an electrician or plumber or some other skilled trade. unlike college, an investment in trade licenses comes with 4 or Read More...
My Take On “House Passes Historic Health Bill”
David, I lived in Europe for several years and here are some more characteristics of Europe that you can add to your list:
1. Higher cost of living
2. much higher tax burden
3. higher level of bureaucratic red tape red tape
4. More government interference in citizens lives.
5. More Citizens who experience more than ONE culture through travel, but less REAL tolerance of foreigners in their own societies, resulting in large unassimilated and disaffected populations
6. Historically higher rates of Read More...
Thoughts On “Lawrence H. White: The German Miracle: Another Look”
We can't let up. We should each commit to calling twenty friends on the evening of November 1st.
If we don't take back the House due to MSM constant regurgitation and repetition of Obama talking points, it may be time for a split up. We simply don't need to be this big a country anyway. Let the Left have their states and their experiments and their one-sided media.
We'll see where we both end up after twenty years. I'd love to be the business job recruiter for the new Midwestern States of America Read More...
Views On “Time to Take First Step on Entitlement Spending”
Rich Michel emails: Two years ago the President and the then Democratic transactional leadership must have known that they were risking the reelection of many of its members to pass healthcare legislation. While I was opposed to the legislation, I applaud the fact that they pushed ahead on an issue that had been a centerpiece of Democrats policy for years. In that same way, deficit reduction and fiscal sanity should be the centerpiece for both the GOP and Dem leadership and both should be willing Read More...
My View On “Whitacre to Get Permanent CEO Job at GM”
Will not defend GM/F/Chrysler management. That is for sure. But I think most of the quality/design/performance management process issues were related to management and bad design. Rarely are those problems due to factory workers not screwing-in the bolts tightly or even missing one. Modern factories in particular are set up such that there is little discretion afforded to the assemblers. The drills have pre-set torque settings, etc. So why the incredible obsession with unions on the comments Read More...
Opinion On “You Need a Plan to Boost Retirement Income”
William,
Thanks for sharing your experience in portfolio management during retirement savings account. A few questions:
Do you have a large retirement savings accumulated or do you have income or assets outside of the retirement funds that you use? 1-2% withdrawal seems quite small to be able to meet all the needs in retirement. If it is assets outside the retirement funds, did you manage those with similar asset allocation?
How about RMDs? Since you are highly likely past RBD, how are you able Read More...
Some Thoughts On “Book Review: Unnatural Selection”
I believe in choice, so I have no issue with the 163 million unborns. They do go hand in hand and yet even as a single male they must be allowed in the name of freedom. That said selective abortions are a good idea especially if scientists can isolate the obesity gene in fetuses. While this may not eliminate all overweight people people from society (as self determination still allows weak willed people to derail perfectly good genomes) it would be wonderful if selective abortion could lead to Read More...
A Response To “Noonan: They’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”
As usual, drivel rolls out of your mind like snot from a 5 year old kids nose. The president is at least a communicator with the people on the level od Clinton and Reagan. He does not have to be a politicakl genius, he kows that his policies have kept this country from diving into a depresion of unthinkable proportions. Politics be damned, he saved America, and has even made progress at repairing the damage created by Bush family and Chaney under the misguided direction of that facist Rove. If Read More...
